A simple idea...if you're going to visit neighbors or friends that know both of you well, you can wear a dark brown wig and she can wear a platinum blonde wig. Like I said...simple.

Many years ago, when I was in junior high, a friend of mine and I faced the same question. She, being the blonde, dressed all in white, including makeup to make her skin white, and she was an angel. I, being the dark haired one, dressed all in black, with a big felt hood that came out from my face about 5 inches, and a piece of felt that fell in front of my face (with holes so I could breathe and see) and I was the grim reaper. We had a ball making the costumes, and wound up winning most original at the party we went to.
