Why can't you dye light blonde hair lighter?

I dyed my hair a lightish blonde about 3 months ago, and now i want to go even lighter, like ice blonde. :)

I've been advised against it. I really want to know what will happen...

bleach!

You hair will break off if you don't condition it really well like all the time it is just a pain but you can do if you really want! I recommend ION conditioner protein packs once a week if you do.

IT will be white. it is possible for it to go lighter.

anytime you take any kind of hair a lighter color there is a serious risk of damaging your hair... badly damaging your hair. I dye my hair on a regular basis and I try to avoid anything with amonia in it so my hair gets less fried.... talk to pros or friends who dye their hair regularly....

just fyi... right now its getting into winter where I am and ice blone only really looks good in the summer... not too in fashion right now... but go for it if it is a good look for you, ;)

Your hair will break off at the ends, some pieces will become a funky shape, and some will melt off completely. Been here, done this, trust me! Its called a chemical haircut...pieces snap off everywhere. If you do do it, only wash twice per week, and use dumb blonde conditioner (cant remember who makes it), and no rubber bands!

Why can't you dye light blonde hair lighter?

Are you going from being a darker blonde to a lighter blonde naturally, or were you a brunette?

You need to be careful about dying natural blonde hair, since if it goes wrong, you're hair might permanently be tinted that color. Blonde hair is really fragile and, when using the wrong stuff, you can easily destroy it's natural color.

If you don't mind not having your natural blonde hair (if you are a blonde), then go for it!

The bleach is very destructive to your hair. You may want to let it grow out before you go any lighter. I'm sure you've seen the straw heads running around that look horrible. You certainly don't want to have carry that look with you for months.

You've already stripped a lot of color out of your hair. Further stripping of the color will leave it not only dry as straw but extremely thin and brittle as well. You will find that ends will break off your hair and it will have a frizzy, flyaway look, if it doesn't fall out altogether. Be kind to your hair, leave it alone for a few more months and deep condition it in the meantime. Make sure to get a trim after coloring in order to get rid of any existing split ends. And it's always best to have it done by a professional.

Why do you want to go that light anyway? That's kinda cheesy.

Tinted blond hair cannot be lightened with tint, it must be bleached to lighten it. You have probably been advised against it due to the present condition of your hair. Start messing with it and you could end up with severe damage and major breakage. Leave it alone unless you think you can pull off bald spots and hair that is the condition of chewed hay!

I did the same thing to my hair(and my natural color is brunete, it shou;ld be easier, and less damage will be done to your hair since the bleach will not have to be left on your hair as long as with mine) although it gets damaged, I've been using The John Frieda shampoo and conditioner, and apply treatments for blonde or highlighted hair one or two times a week, and it's gone almost to it's natural state, it isn't dry and frizzy anymore, try getting it done with a pro so that you make sure it doesn't come out reddish or orange, try dying only the roots when retouching, because that's the mistake people make, that they dye their whole hair over and over again, and that's why it becomes fragile and it breaks.

Dyeing your hair requires using harsh chemicals akin to bleaching fabric. Doing so will also break down the natural structure of your hair and you'll end up with bery brittle hair (e.g. bleaching your black t-shirt will turn it white, but the t-shirt will end up falling apart soon if you wear it a lot).

It might turn into a yellowish pink color

Dont go lighter! It will look like it has been bleached! And if you wear makeup with really light blonde(kinda bleached) hair it makes you look really old!!!!! DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!

Well anyway its your hair so do whatever you want! Good Luck!

Why can't you dye light blonde hair lighter?

because color ALWAYS makes color go darker. bleach (highliter) must be used to get rid of the old color.

color will fade out, but color ALWAYS makes color go darker.

what will happen? the roots will be lighter than natural and the old color stuff will be darker. this is not the way nature intended and will look bad. roots are always darker (unless grey) than the ends because the sun will fade the ends of your hair ( one inch towards the roots don't get light).

Why can't you dye light blonde hair lighter?

I think its its beacause if you dye blonde hair lighter the color will faid

Out of 15 people only three gave you decent advise. I will be one more to give good advise. As to bleach NO NO NO. Now what you are saying to me is that you are a natural blond. OK from there we need to know if you are a light blond or a dark blond. If you are a dark blond than i advise you to go to a professional colorist to get what you want. If you are a natural light blond then we have some room to work. Cool blonds come in 2 forms pale ash blond and violet blond.Violet blond gives you that drastic paleness to it were pale ash blonde I usually use to "cool" warmth out of a light blond. Damage is always going to happen with color , just how it is, but you have some say on that. In my salon I only lighten blond with a 20volume peroxide. Reduces the damage factor a lot. Problem for you is that you probably don't have access to professional products. So I think you can go pale cool blond but I would HIGHLY suggest you go to a respectable salon to get their help. It will save you alot of $$ and headache in the long run. Good luck Grasshopper.
