my semi formal is coming up soon and i was wondering how i should do my makeup? i have long platinum blonde hair (i think im having it done in waves) blue eyes and light skin. oh and my dress is dark purple with gold shimmer on it

You don't have to buy if the makeup is more expensive than what you normally get. It will at least give you an idea of what to look for in your own brand. They are trained to know colors with skin tone, etc. and it's fun to have someone pamper you a little and at no charge.

If I were you, i would do a purple sparkle eyeshadow. Just the sparkles that shimmer in purple. And i would wear the mascara that has the white first then the black, because it lengthens and thickens, and I have blue eyes to, and it really seems to outline your eyes and make them pop =] And maybe just a skin colored foundation. And for your lips, id go with a very subtle light pink lipstick just to add a bit of color to your lips, and then to go over it with a gloss, =] I went to the semi formal a couple days ago, and i wore a red dress and did almost the same but just natural glitter. =]
