Can a black hair father and a dark brown hair mother have a blonde hair child?

I'm debating this question because my boyfriend's ex-wife gave birth to a son that has blonde hair and blue eyes. The thing is on my boyfriend's side of the family, they all have dark hair, dark skin, and dark eyes. So where did this child's genetics come from?

Can a black hair father and a dark brown hair mother have a blonde hair child?

Possibly but it is HIGHLY unlikely. The blonde gene is recessive and would only rarely pop up. The brown and black hair gene is dominent. If I had black hair and my wife had brown hair and she gave birth to a blonde-haired baby I would be asking some questions.

Can a black hair father and a dark brown hair mother have a blonde hair child?

Children change as the grow. Hair color changes. Even eye color can change a little as the baby matures. Do not cast suspicions on the mother. Report It

Can a black hair father and a dark brown hair mother have a blonde hair child?

Well, geez, I just happen to be that child's mother and I have Light brown hair and hazel eyes. You failed to mention that I have a blonde hair blue eyed father. You should seriously find out all the information you can, before asking a question Report It

Can a black hair father and a dark brown hair mother have a blonde hair child?

absolutly, as long as one parent has had at least one blond ancester, and if they're European, they probably certainly have.

Can a black hair father and a dark brown hair mother have a blonde hair child?

Yes. It's called a recessive gene. And My parents both have brown hair and blue eyes. They had 7 Children. 6 of them brown hair blue eyes. One of them blonde hair blue eyes. Definitely can happen.

Well, my husband and I did - first two kids have very dark hair, third one is blond . . .

Can a black hair father and a dark brown hair mother have a blonde hair child?

Unlikely but possible.

So Janie, lets look at your question, "How does parentage determine hair color?" I think you can see that it isn't really parentage that determines your hair color, it is inheritance! You get half of your genes for eumelanin and phomelanin from each parent. If both of your parents have similar color hair, then that means that they have similar numbers of alleles for each type of melanin producing gene. If both of your parents have dark hair, then the chances are great that you will inherit a lot of functional alleles for eumelanin, and that you will have dark hair too. However, since all of the genes are inherited independently, there is a small chance that you will inherit mostly the 閳ユΤhite閳?alleles for eumelanin, and you could wind up with light colored hair. Similarly, if your parents both have red hair, you will probably inhert the 閳ユΜed閳?alleles for phomelanin, and the fact that you can see the phomelanin in their hair means that they don閳ユ獩 have much eumelanin, so you will probably inherit a large number of 閳ユΤhite閳?eumelanin alleles. However, unless both of your parents have no functional eumelanin alleles, there is a small chance that you could inherit more functional eumelanin alleles than either of them has, and your hair would appear to be darker brown in color, rather than red.

genetically it can be possible if both parents carry a recessive gene (blonde is recessive)..they may both be dark haired because they each have one dominant gene for dark hair and one recessive gene for blonde (which is overruled by the dominant one for dark hair)..but if they each pass on their recessive gene to their child, the child then has 2 recessive genes and ends up blonde..

Can a black hair father and a dark brown hair mother have a blonde hair child?

hmmm, My Mother and Father both have dark hair. My Mother has bluish eyes and my Father dark, dark brown. My youngest brother has blonde hair and blue eyes, (the creep). Do you think........nah. It can happen.

Can a black hair father and a dark brown hair mother have a blonde hair child?

Ofcourse..you can't determine how likely or not..it's all genetic..the arrangement of egg and sperm and the different characteristics of each can make the situation likely, or not.
