I have dirty blonde hair and want to know if I would be able to get brownish highlights so my hair still has a little bit of my original blonde but is mostly brown.

Yes, go to a salon and ask for low lites. Choose a color slightly darker than what your want, and if they suggest they 'fill' your hair first, listen to them. Reason being, if they are suggesting it is because your hair is so heavily lightened that the color will probably fade out quite quickly or not take at all. Good luck.
