i am pale, very pale in fact, don't think i've met anyone paler, i sometimes look quite washed out. my hair is boring mousy brown, i always wanted blonde hair but thought it would look terrible on me, but my sister is quite pale and her blonde hair looks lovely. should i dye it?and if so what kind of blonde would look best?

I myself am very pale, and i thought that blonde would make me look less pasty (cause all the guys and girls with nice tans are usually blonde...stereotypically).

BUT... dark brown hair will actually bring out the features in your face and won't bring out the pastyness in your skin. In that case, i would go with a dark brown almost black colour. I struggle with the same problem as you, but here's my best advice:

Do what you want to do! If you wanna go blonde, for heavens sake go platinum! I'm sure you will look amazing no matter what you choose.

Start with your sister's shade and see how that looks. You can always go lighter or darker.

I would suggest going to a salon and seeing a professional though.

That depends. You may be "pale", but what's your skin tone? If you have a pink based complexion i think a light blond wouldn't wash you out. But if you have more of an olive based skin tone, you may find that you might look a little washed out.

Even if you have an olive based complexion, and you dye your hair and find it too pale, liven it up with some darker shades of blond and light brown, and you'll find it adds much more color to your face. Hope I helped! :)

Try highlights first, maybe even chunks.

Don't use anything that says ash, even though the chick on the box looks nice with that color doesn't mean your hair will turn out that color. Ash has a red tone to it. If your hair is a brown color it will turn it a reddish-orange color. Anything with the word "Natural" should work for you. And don't worry about it being in too long the longer you leave it in the lighter it will be, just don't leave it in for longer than an hour and a half.

Just a tip: Putting it under heat speeds up the process too, like in the salons.
