I have dark hair from a couple years of dying it browns and reds, and right now have a brownish disaster with a reddish tinge. I'm aware of all the damages stripping hair does, but are there any alternatives that would allow me to get my hair to a light blonde?

All that color is very damaging to hair, it could break it off and make it weak. The best advice i can give is toleave your hair alone right now. Grow out all that processed hair getting it trimmed regularly until your natural color comes in. Then if you decide to color it it will be healthy enough to with stand the bleach that's used to change very dark hair to light hair. If you strip it or try to bleach it at this stage it might just fall out!

dying your hair will not stunt its growth. hair is dead cells. the only part tha tis alive is your root. what about trying some sun-in. that is what i always use for some blonde in my hair in the summer. and i believe when i used to dye my hair red i still used it to add some light highlights. so you could try sun-in (or lemon juice also works the same)

Best thing to do is get it done and ask for a lot of blonde highlights. I did this and it turned out great, and I started with reds and browns in my hair also.

They apply an all over color to your hair, usually brown, then work lots of blonde, copper, caramel, yellowish, into it. It looks natural also. Cost me about 70.00. Good Luck !

Try growing your hair out to virgin hair (something you haven't done anything to) In order to do this dye your hair your original color and let the roots, everything grow out. Then, when it grows out enough and has at least 3-4 inches NEW growth, then, go to a professional and let them know what you want to do with your color. By dying your hair again (and this time a blonde color) will only ruin what you already have and make your hair dry and brittle.

My thoughts are that Natural is best, esp. when you are so young and don't have gray hair shooting up yet!! Be happy with what you've got. I use to experiment with different hair colors, however, I realized that the only color that looked the BEST on me was my natural color.
