For what you want to do, we talk about it so that you have a plan. I would start you with highlights to ease into a blonde look. If you want to do it right and have it look good as you move toward your goal color or style we need to have a plan. Talking to a colorist will help sooth any worries you have and give ideas on how to achieve the perfect look for you. We take alot of pride in our work so look for a salon that has a colorist. Cost is obviously going to be higher that if you tried to do it at home but you are paying for our knowledge, skill, and time. But unlike a friend who thought it would be "fun" to do and realizes that after the first 10 minutes they would rather do something else, our reputations are on the line so we give and give. First I would deep condition your hair for the lightening of your hair as it will need it. Also, go with colors that match your skin tone ie, warm colors for warm skin tones and cool colors for cool skin tones. I know L'Oreal has highlighting kits that are designed for cool or warm tones. Sometimes the salon would be your best bet.

I would do some caramel hilites, that way you still have your natural colour, and it adds a bit of depth to your hair. You can gradually lighten if you'd like.

You don't need to bleach to do this, you can use colour a couple of shades lighter than your natural

IF YOUR WANTING TO SAVE SOME MONEY.. MAYBE TRY SPRITZING SOME SUN-IN %26amp; BLOWDRY. IT LIGHTENS HAIR BY USING THE SUNS RAYS OR BY THE HEAT OF THE BLOW DRYER.

BE CAREFUL THOUGH, SUN-IN IS PRACTICALLY PEROXIDE IN A BOTTLE. (so read the directions if you do it)

okay whatever you do DON"T use sun-in, its very bad and all hairdressers have said not to use it, it damages your har intensely. Just go to a salon and get your hair done there, they will know what will be best your your hair and what your wanting.
